A letter to my past self.

So I’m writing to you from the middle of your second year at University. I have got the task to write myself a letter to the past.

That’s an exciting thing to do so I will try.

Last year I’ve chose Game Design as my specialisation.

Honestly, I’ve been bad at it and initially wanted to do art. But I knew – if I’m not going to try it then – I will never push myself to learn it. So I did.

I can tell that it’s going to be hard for you, but you will never regret it.

My advice is:

  • Planning is the key. Push yourself to submit at least one brief in two weeks. Never leave it for the last moment. PLEASE.

  • Choose all three briefs at the beginning of the module and keep them in mind. It’s ok if you will change your mind later, but you might find a solution on how to do them early.

  • Start with the complicated briefs. Not with the hardest, but the ones that can challenge you. By doing this, you will get a lot of experience from the start, and it would be easy for you to deal with the remaining briefs later.

  • Don’t try to be the bestofthebestofthebest. Please don’t plan to make all the briefs, better make the essential three, but make them polished.

  • Try to enjoy the process, even if it’s hard sometimes. If you feel frustrated – don’t hesitate to ask for help or go for the next brief.

  • Never regret the time that was lost – it’s all is a part of the learning process.
