Today I will be sharing my process of creating the isometric art. It was my first attempt in this technique and I was quite excited while working on it.
I started by finding the reference picture. I thought Stables would be a great example, as they are simple, but still filled with such elements as pillars, walkways, fences, etc. and it would be fun to draw them.
I chose this picture.
I drew the quick sketch of stables in perspective view. Straight after that, I created the isometric building picture (totally prospectively wrong, but more than suitable for the vector reference.)
Moving into the Adobe Illustrator. I found and placed the detailed isometric grid on my artboard and started to create the building.
After I coloured all the parts on the image and added some extra details later (horses :))
I enjoyed a lot this kind of art. It's effortless, but requires a lot of attention to the details and care for the perspective. Even being a simple 2D picture, the isometric grid can help create depth and volume by manipulating with colors and shapes.
